The American Cancer Society has two halves: research and services.  Krystal and Brandi explain that the society is built on hope, and say, "cancer doesn't sleep, neither do we".  The society maintains a 24 hour 7 day a week telephone hot line (800) 227-2345, answered live, providing support and information.  An upcoming major event sponsored by the cancer society is the annual Relay For Life, scheduled for May 14th and 15th on the athletic track at Challenge Charter High School in Oroville (see www.relayforlife.org\orovilleca) This event begins at 9 am on the 14th, and continues actively until 7 am on the 15th, with total celebration during this time.  People will be continually walking around the track.  Those walking the first lap will be cancer survivors, and the second lap will have caregivers on the track.  The luminaria ceremony will be held at 10 pm.  Each participating team will have booth space.  Games, face painting and food sales are included.
